Summer Make-up…. by Suzanne Potts, Aqua Rosa.
In the event that we actually do get some sun this summer, follow these easy steps to keep your make-up fresh and comfortable in the heat.
You don’t need to change your whole routine, just adapt what is already working for you.
- Try using a lighter moisturizer to avoid overloading your skin as it may naturally produce a little more oil in the heat and humidity anyway.
- If you are going to be in the sun a lot a moisturizer or foundation with a SPF in it would be the safe option.
- If you like a good base, try a stay on long wear foundation, they don’t break down as easily when the skin sweats and so give a flawless finish for much longer even in the heat.
- If you prefer a very sheer look why not try a sunless tan, you get a little colour and all you need to do is wear a tinted moisturizer to tone down any blemishes.
- Sheer eye shadows will give a more summery (shimmery gold’s and bronzes are key looks this season) and wear away naturally instead of leaving dark creases, also try to avoid dark liner under the eyes as it will be the first to smudge and smear if you get a little overheated.
- Waterproof mascara will stay put much better than ordinary although make sure you use a good remover at night to get all traces off.
- A nude shimmery bronzer or blush will look better and wear nicer for the summer. If you use a deep blusher you will risk it looking patchy especially in the humidity.
- Sheer gloss on the lips is always a good summer look and easy to re apply as often as you need to.
In short keep it simple use layers of sheer colour to build up the look without risking looking caked in make-up.
The summer is the best time to indulge in a little self tanning and keep the look natural and fresh.
Enjoy the sun!
