I got my hair cut and coloured the other week and though I asked for layers and a fringe cut in, it wasnt what I wanted even though I had taken a picture with me to show the style I wanted! Also had highlights which were again not great you can not really see any difference, yet I just smiled and said 'it's nice', paid and left vowing never to return.  My partner was furious that I paid and not demanded them to do it how I wanted.  For some reason I just tend to go extremely shy when at a hairdressers and hate to confront them if I am unhappy.  What do you do in this situation?

Well, you are definitely right about never returning. I think it would be moot point to go back now after you have already left and said it was nice, but definitely let all your friends know to never go there. I am the same as you. I don't like telling them they did it wrong, but on the other hand I don't like paying for something that I didn't ask for. Next time have your partner come to the next hair dresser, and if they don't do right, let him raise hell for you .
