Applying Shampoo and Conditioner

What method do you use to apply hair products in the shower?

I know that a lot of people pile hair on the top of their heads to apply shampoo and conditioner, but I'm a bit different. I apply shampoo to the scalp only, and conditioner to hair and not the scalp. I've found that it makes my hair less oily.

I apply shampoo and conditioner separately. I will use shampoo first, and I usually apply a generous amount, and lather it all over, including my scalp, for about two minutes. With conditioner, I apply it all over except for my scalp, and I let it sit for about three minutes then rinse well.

Re: Applying Shampoo and Conditioner

I read somewhere that you only need a single drop of shampoo not too much, just so you can wash your hair. And you need to concentrate on the scalp or the top of your head. While conditioners should be applied at the tip or ends of your locks. Well, I just thought I'd share it here.

Re: Applying Shampoo and Conditioner

Leading trichologist Philip Kingsley says "Using a conditioner after you shampoo can leave the hair limp ... Use it mainly on the ends, which are the oldest and driest part of your hair. Then shampoo." (Quoted Bella magazine)

I must admit I have always used an intense conditioner after washing my hair and then followed it with a thorough rinse.  Obviously I need to reverse the stages!

Re: Applying Shampoo and Conditioner

I read that somewhere too, and since then I have been making sure I don't get conditioner in my roots. Before then I used to drench hair all over, inluding my roots, in conditioner, and then leave it there for 5 minutes...yikes....
