Budget Straighteners

I know everyone raves about GHDs but let's admit it, they do cost quite a bit.

Has anyone found a good budget alternative?

Hi Fi,

My sister did try the Babyliss ones from Argos which were £20.00 and did say they were just as good GHD for making hair straight as they did go up to 200 degrees - that was however until they blew up last week after just 10 months. She has tried most of the cheaper brands but either they dont straighten or dont last.

Personally I know GHDs are expensive but I think they are the best and 2 years (touch wood) still working as good as day one.

When we first brought GHD into the Salon I thought exactly the same thing. How can they be that much better? I have now changed my mind.

We have use all sort of straighteners in the salon and we get a lot of feedback from our clients about their straighteners and GHD are easily the best. All our stylists say they are much better.

You have to remember that just having hot irons on your hair is basically bad for it so the higher the temperature, the worse it is.

GHD doesn't have to rely of a really hot temperature because it's patented design distributes the heat evenly over the plate and keeps it a a constant temperature. GHD's are set at 190 degrees so are better for your hair.

The build quality is also much better than any other straighteners we have used.

Re: Budget Straighteners

I admit i'd be lost without my GHD's. It's a pain in the bum having to go from 2 different styling tools to either enhance my natural wave or to straighten out the kink. My hair looks abit daft poker straight but i love the kicks and flicks i can add with my GHD's...and mine are the bright pink ones too, even more reason to be in love :P

Ok, I am completely lost, what is a GHD? I have always heard that Chi brand is very good.
