The best thing you can do for a detox is visit a spa or sauna and sweat out all the toxins in your skin!
Waterfall Spa in leeds is a ladies only spa and they have a deal on at the moment of £50 per person-almost half price the normal. They do some really good detox treatments too like the 'mud and scrub body cleansing'
There are a couple of reviews about it on virtual tourist.com
Or follow this link for more info: http://www.waterfallspa.co.uk/spa-breaks.php

Re: Detox Patches

I think the body already has a very good detox system in the liver. To my mind the most logical way to detox would be to stop ingesting toxins for a couple of days to let the liver get on with its job unmolested. I am sure a dietician could do a better job, but I would say that avoiding alcohol and caffiene and eating only light meals should do the job.

I am very sceptical that applying anything to the skin will help the liver at all.

Re: Detox Patches

Yes i agree beauty scientist, avoiding alcohol and caffeine is a good start and drinking plenty of water can be added to that list.

The liver is indeed a very good detox system but with the increased amount of toxins in our modern day lives in our shampoo, air, soaps, water and even in our clothes, other detox methods can be beneficial in giving the body a bit of a boost!

Raymond Francis, in his book, Never be Sick Again, states, "Saunas get your heart beating and your blood circulating, helping the body to detoxify in unique and important ways."

I really believe in using saunas to detox and always feel fantastic after a treatment or two : ) As for detox treatments for the skin, (or at least cleansing treatments), i suppose they are more a treat than a necessity! But they do help clean out the pores-detoxing the skin rather than the body as such.

Re: Detox Patches

I happened to come across an ingredient list for a product very similar to the Champneys one the other day.  I remain convinced that they are pure nonsense and I am rather surprised that Champneys, who have a brand image to think about, are risking their reputation selling them.

Re: Detox Patches

Another company called Nightly Detox seems to have jumped on this current beauty bandwagon.  They say their patches have been inspired by Oriental medicine and contain oak vinegar to improve blood circulation and help with fatigue and headaches, vitamin C, tourmaline bio stone, a gemstone to cleanse and increase energy and agaricus mushrooms, with non carcinogenic benefits! They also claim these ingredients help promote homeostasis, the maintenance of a constant internal environment.  (Now what does that mean?)

Nightly Detox offers either a One Night Trial, £5.95, or a Five Night Intensive Detox, £26.95, including 10 patches and 10 adhesive sheets.

Further details are on www.nightlydetox.com
